Describe the palace of the Chinese Emperor.
Ans. The palace
of the Chinese Emperor was magnificent. It was richly decorated. It was built
of white porcelain Pictures of rare birds were colourfully painted on the walls
of the palace.

was the effect of the Nightingale’s song on the courtiers and their master?
Ans. The
song of the Nightingale was so enchanting that the emperor and his courtiers
listened to it as silently as if they were in the church. The emperor was so
much overjoyed to listen to its song that tears of joy fell from his eyes.

was the Nightingale treated in the palace in the beginning?
Ans. In the
beginning the Nightingale was given a high seat and was treated nicely in the
palace. It was allowed to go to its nest in the forest everyday though a string
was tied to it lest it should fly away.

was the clockwork bird preferred to the living one?
Ans. The
clockwork bird could sing when it was wound up and the emperor and his
courtiers could listen to its song day and night. But the living Nightingale
could not do so. In this respect the clockwork bird was preferred to the living
one.

Ans. One day
the clockwork bird was singing as usual. In the middle of its song there was a
whir-r-r sound and the machine went out of order. It stopped its song.

help the Emperor?
Ans. When
the Nightingale heard about the Emperor’s sickness it decided to help the
Emperor to recover from illness as the Emperor had done no wrong to the Nightingale.
Accordingly,
the Nightingale went to the palace. It sat on the foot of the window-door and
began to sing. The emperor heard its song and he was completely recovered. In
this way the Nightingale helped the Emperor.

Ans. The
nightingale lived in a forest by the sea.

did the Emperor order his courtiers to bring the Nightingale to his palace?
Ans. The
Emperor ordered his courtiers to bring the nightingale to his palace only to
listen to its sweet song.

did the nightingale fly away from the palace?
Ans. The Emperor

night. So the Nightingale was neglected. It felt sad and one day it flew away
secretly.
